Why you should stay at Grecotel LUXME Daphnila Bay in Corfu

POV: Summer is basically around the corner and you can’t wait to be back on a Greek island topping up your tan, swimming in the sea and eating gyros. If this is you, we’ve got the perfect stay to make it happen… Enter, Grecotel LUXME Daphnila Bay in Corfu. From its prime beachfront position and classic Grecian aesthetic to its top-tier foodie scene, here are all the reasons why you’ll LOVE this luxe All Inclusive pick for your next getaway to Greece…

The location

Out of all the Greek Islands, Corfu’s always a firm fave. It’s one of the lush Ionian Islands which are covered in thick, green forests, so the vibe is pretty different from the drier spots like Rhodes and Crete. On the east side of the island, Dassia is a great pick for making the most of it all – the hills above the town are prime hiking territory (Strava kudos incoming) and they make for a epic backdrop, especially from the resort’s private beach.

On the Kommeno Peninsula, the private Blue Flag bay’s got cliché-clear water and major natural beauty. The energy is peaceful, with grassy lounger areas covered in shady palms, olive and cypress trees – AKA the perfect parasol for snoozing under – and it’s all hazy mountain views as far as the eye can see. All this is steps away from the hotel down a pretty stone path, and there’s even a bar and gelato spot right on the sweep, so you don’t have to leave the beach to get your All Inclusive drinks and snacks in.

The pool

The resort itself sits a bit higher than the waterfront, so you get the same views from all over – including the pool. The stone terrace faces the sea, which means you can stare out across the bay from the water and your lounger. They are the super comfy, cushioned kind, and rattan tables and woven parasols meet the boho-chic brief. There’s a separate kids’ pool to keep the splashing to a minimum – unless you decide to start practising your underwater handstands – then there’s the poolside bar so you can stay hydrated while you top up your tan (with fresh margs, ofc).

The activities

If the fly-and-flop life isn’t for you, they go big on activities and entertainment here, so there’s always something going on for you to get involved with. Switch into sports mode with everything from padel and tennis to beach volleyball and watersports or try something different like dance lessons or horse riding. If all that sounds a bit too intense, there are always the holiday classics like darts and tables tennis.

To work up a sweat minus the exercise, head to the Elixir Spa. Sauna, steam, repeat then cool off in the heated indoor pool and go all-out with a massage or a facial. Before you think you can’t leave the little ones, there’s even a kids’ club with fun games and crafts that’ll occupy them for a few hours while you get your spa on… you’re welcome. For another strictly no-kids-allowed activity, book onto a tour of the wine cellar with a guided tasting. The sommelier will show you the impressive collection of vino, as well as tell you all about the local vineyards in Corfu.

Evenings are filled with things like live shows and performances, although just sitting and watching the sunset with a cocktail is pure entertainment. If you’re keen for a change of scenery, you’re only a short walk from Dassia’s tavernas and bars. The nightlife here’s pretty laidback, so you won’t find any clubs open until the AM – it’s more chatting over drinks and enjoying live music with the locals.

The food

This isn’t your average All Inclusive set-up… we’re talking six restaurants, plus five bars and snack spots. Antica Cucina is your buffet bestie for breakfast, lunch and dinner, but there’s also Asia Oliva, an Asian-fusion self-service restaurant where you can load up on noodles and stir fries. If you love a snack, you’ll be obsessed with the creperie and gelateria, where you can grab pancakes, waffles and ice-cream all day long. The sweet treats keep coming over in the patisserie/chocolaterie, which is open in the afternoons for pastries, cakes and other yum snacks. Or, for savoury cravings, the pool bar sorts you out with small plates like sandwiches and burgers.

You’ve got plenty of options for spicing up your evening meals, too. There’s Tavernaki, a cute taverna right on the waterfront. The thing here is mezze – basically Greek picky bits – so it’s all about sharing flatbread, tzatziki and stuffed vine leaves while you’re sat under olive trees and fairy lights. If you’re feeling extra fancy, treat yourself to a table at Il Gatopardo, the gourmet lobster place. Like most All Inclusive hotels, the à la carte restaurants aren’t included, but you do get one free meal per person per stay at one of them.

The rooms

We’ve all been to those hotels where everything’s amazing but the rooms are a bit meh… and that isn’t this pick. All the rooms are on brand with that bright and airy feel thanks to the earthy tones, wooden furniture and extra touches like woven baskets and terracotta pots. Upgrade to one with a terrace or a balcony and wake up to a view of the lush gardens or sea each morning. If you love lots of room to spread out or you need extra space for the whole fam, go for your own bungalow – they are separate to the main building, so you’ll have a bit more privacy, especially in the Hideaway Daphnila types.
