Insider intros – Meet @usntheworld

If you haven’t heard about our First Choice Insiders programme yet, it’s about time you did. @usntheworld are two of the amazing travel creators we’ve partnered with to get you that on-the-ground info and inspo you’re after.

 So, get started and meet our couples’ travel experts and spontaneous legends, @usntheworld … 

First of all, tell us a bit about yourself! 

Hey! We’re Charlotte and Ellie – AKA @usntheworld. We’re two wives from Scotland who love to travel the world together.  

How many countries have you travelled to so far? 

As a couple we’ve visited over 25 countries together, which have been a mix of city breaks and beach holidays.  

What’s your earliest holiday memory? 

Our first trip together was to Paris in February 2015. Charlotte planned the whole thing for Valentine’s Day, it was a total surprise! 

Where’s the last place you visited? 

Our last trip was to Bruges in Belgium. We booked a last-minute ferry from Dover to Dunkirk and then we drove to Bruges with our dog, Chino. He loved it!    

What’s your ultimate bucket-list destination, and why? 

Zanzibar in Tanzania. The amazing beaches, activities and culture are something we definitely want to experience.  

Is there a destination you love to revisit? Or are you the type of traveller that can’t stand going back to a place you’ve already ticked off your list? 

Normally we prefer to travel to new places, but we’d definitely go back to Malaysia and the Maldives!  

How do you approach planning your travels? Are you more spontaneous or do you like to plan things down to the last detail? 

We’re very spontaneous… sometimes a little too much! We find planning a last-minute break so exciting and we love to go with the flow. We just pack a bag and run as fast as we can… normally to the check-in desk.  

What’s the number one thing you look for in a destination? Food, sights, culture, or something else? 

Culture for sure! Good food is always a bonus though…  

Tell us your biggest travel ick – we’re talking bare feet on the plane, clapping when the plane lands…  

It’s got to be clapping when the plane lands for sure! Charlotte does this deliberately… 

Is there a travel hack you discovered that changed the game for you? 

Getting a bag at duty-free and filling it with your belongings at the airport to save your luggage allowance.  

Tell us about…  

…the most beautiful place you’ve visited 

Definitely has to be the Maldives. The beaches were breathtaking, and the water was so clear you could see baby sharks and stingrays!  

…the most memorable place you’ve visited  

Florence in Italy, where we got engaged in 2019. It’s such a beautiful city. 

… the most surprising place you’ve visited  

Bucharest, Romania. We booked a last-minute trip for the Christmas markets and it was magical! We recommend it to anyone looking to book a Christmas getaway – it’s super cheap, too.
