Easter Holidays
Easter is one of the best times to travel. The spring vibes are giving, the blossom is blossoming and Europe starts preheating for summer. Whether you’re booking a long bank holiday weekend away or spending some family time together during the school hols (or you’re a teacher getting as far away from them as poss), these picks are perf for an Easter trip.
May/June half term
Hello, early summer. School is out for one last time before the big break, so it’s a great opp to squeeze in a beachy trip before everyone else does. Most places are feeling nice and toasty by June, which means you’ve got destination options for days. Plus, the late May bank holiday often overlaps – that’s one less AL day you need to take. Here’s where you want to be at this time of year…
Adults-only summer
If you don’t have kids, you probably avoid going away during the summer. If you’re a teacher, you’re stuck with the peak-season curse. But adults need to live their best summer lives, too, and there’s that last bank holiday of the summer to make the most of. Luckily for you, lots of adults-only stays usually have a good deal on while all the family places are packed. These destinations are pretty good for swerving the screaming and splashing…
October half term
It might be autumn, but summer’s not over ‘til we say it’s over… and plenty of places in southern Europe feel the same. It’s your last chance to get some sunshine close to home, so don’t waste it! Teachers and parents, you know the drill – these beachy picks are holding on just for October half term.
Halloween holidays
Spooky season is BACK b*tch. If you live for October, do yourself a favour and swap the overpriced fright night event for a destination that knows how to do Halloween. Mexico City is taken over by scary skeletons every year for Dia de los Muertos – AKA Day of the Dead. Romania’s capital, Bucharest embraces its lore as the home of Dracula, while New York goes all-out with the parades, creepy costumes and mega decorations – and it’s within daytrip distance of Salem, btw.
Christmas Market trips
POV: Christmas is around the corner, Mariah Carey is defrosting and Europe’s cities are getting ready to spread some serious joy with their Christmas markets. So, whether you’re taking the kids to meet Santa during the school break or you’re only in it for the mulled wine and mince pies, these city breaks are serving all the festive spirit…
Christmas winter sun holidays
If winter isn’t the one for you, swap the UK for somewhere HOT on a winter sun holiday. Take the family away for the school holidays and spend Christmas day on the beach, or go for a grown-ups only tropical trip where someone else does all the cooking. Who needs a Christmas tree when you can have palm trees…
New Year’s Eve holidays
New year new destination. Start strong with a major New Year’s to remember – teachers, you’ve got a bit of time before schools go back and you need to switch into serious mode. Or, if you’re lacking AL, the bank holiday is your bestie and most offices are still closed anyway… Here are the places that go hard on the NYE celebrations.
Valentine’s holidays
Hey, travel lovebirds… put down that Pandora bracelet and treat your love to what they really want this V Day – a romantic trip. Fancy catching flights minus the feels? Show your besties some love and get away with your pals or gals instead. These destinations are notorious for setting the sparks flying, though… good luck keeping things platonic xx
