    There’s a small shopping centre in Son Xoriguer, though at Cala’n Bosch you’ll find more in the way of craft stalls and gift shops around the marina. And then there’s Ciutadella. For designer boutiques, try the Ses Voltes arcade by the cathedral. The cobbled streets are also filled with shops selling pottery, leather and the traditional Menorcan sandals known as avarcas.

    It’s a 30-minute drive to Menorca’s biggest waterpark in Cala’n Blanes. AquaCenter has slides for all sizes – there’s the Giant Slide, where you zip down on a rubber ring – plus smaller flumes for younger children. Those are in the dedicated kids’ zone where there’s a trampoline and bouncy castle, too. Plus, the park's restaurant serves everything from paella and pasta to burgers and pizzas.
