Pay Madonna a visit
Mary, Mother of Jesus, is known as Madonna in some spots along the Italian coast. Parghelia’s one of them and there’s a church dedicated to her in the centre of town. The Sanctuario della Madonna di Portosalvo dates back to 1745 and is home to a Gothic-style altar.Parghelia’s horseshoe-shaped beach has seashell-white sands that melt into turquoise waters. It’s nestled between tree-blanketed hills and two rocky breakwaters keep the sea calm. As this town flies under the radar, you won’t be short of space to lay down your towel.
