Morning
Visit the Zillertal farming museum, built in 1713 in Zell am Ziller. To get to Zell am Ziller, either take the 2-hour walk following route 1 or use the train or bus.
Lunch
A must-visit place for food is Hans Gasser. It specialises in cured meats, so order a couple of pork-filled rolls to takeaway and eat them up the mountain - the best lunch spot in Mayrhofen.
Afternoon
Walk from the summit of the Penkenbahn station along the Panorama Trail. This gentle path will take you through some of the prettiest landscapes and you might even spot some paragliders or rock climbers along your way.
Evening
For a place that serves decent food and drink with a lively atmosphere, look no further than Mo's Café . You might be treated to a bit of live music too.
Head to the Hohe Tauern National Park to discover the Krimml Waterfalls – the highest in Austria at 380m tall. Hear the roar and feel the spray on your face as you take in the view from the bottom or climb the footpath to the top (or you can take a taxi up if you prefer).
Some entrance fees and optional extras are payable locally.
So you’re aware, there are quite a few steps and steep sections around the falls so this trip may not be suitable if you have limited mobility or use a wheelchair.
