Eat Rhodian specials in the village square
The square is home to a handful of tavernas, with more backing onto the beach. Many serve up international dishes, like lemon chicken or Thai green curry. Naturally there’s traditional Greek food, too, and you can try pitaroudia – a famous Rhodian dish made with cooked meat, onions and potatoes. And the honey puddings, like baklava, are the perfect way to finish up a meal.During the last weekend in May, Rhodes Town returns to its Medieval roots. There are costumed parades through the old town’s cobbled streets, while fire eaters, jugglers and jesters keep the crowd entertained. There are shopping opportunities, too, at the wooden stalls selling old-world handicrafts. And even the food is Medieval, so prepare for huge banquets and goblets of wine.
