Tuck into moussaka in a village taverna
Most of Gennadi’s eateries are congregated in the village, and they’re mainly mama’s kitchen-style tavernas. You’re likely to be met with a menu of home-cooked Greek dishes, like mousakka, tzatziki, and skewered meat souvlaki.Drive for 30 minutes along the coast, and you’ll reach the whitewashed town of Lindos, which is overlooked by its famous hilltop Acropolis. The mish-mash of ruins up here tells the story of the island’s past – there are remains of an Ancient Greek temple, one from the Roman era, plus a castle built by the Medieval Knights of St John. Best of all, you can hitch a ride to the top on the back of a donkey.
