Try the local drinks

Nightlife in Canico de Baixo tends to be geared around the hotels, most of which lay on a happy hour between 6pm and 8.30pm. Be sure to seek out the local drinks. You’ve more than just Madeira – there’s also Poncha, a bitter-lemon drink, and Nikita, a cocktail made with beer, vanilla ice cream and pineapple. And when you feel like a change, there are taxis to take you to Funchal.
