Magnificent Matterhorn

There's no ignoring the Matterhorn – the titanic peak that guards over the picturesque streets. Set off up the gondola and you'll arrive at the highest cable car station in Europe. With views of three countries - Italy, France and Switzerland, make sure your camera is handy. Take a high altitude stroll or stop in at the restaurant for a pit stop before heading down the valley.

Cultural winter wonderland

It's not all winter sports and spiced wine here. Delve in to a subterranean village at the Matterhorn Museum, or light a candle 3,000 metres up at the historic Bernhard von Aosta chapel. The town also offers locally sourced shopping and a couple of children's playgrounds.
