You’ll need to head to Sardinia’s capital, Cagliari, if you’re in search of some serious retail therapy. The Via Roma is the starting place for most shopping trips, where Italian and international fashion names are both in the mix.

Villasimius is no stranger to a sunset. The bars and restaurants that get the best views tend to get booked well in advance, so it’s well worth sorting a table for a slice of the action.

There are more sheep than people in Sardinia, so there’s no shortage on sheep’s cheese on the island. Ricotta stagionata is cured for 20 days, and goes perfectly with pasta.
