There's plenty of options for recharging once you've dried off. Son Bou's big star's the expansive sandy beach – it's perfect for strolls or sunbathing. The area also features Roman ruins with ocean views. When the sun sets, have your fill of easygoing nightlife and beachside drinks at the bars lining the shore.

Talk of the towns

The areas of Alaior and Mahon are both under 20 minutes' drive away, but boy are they different. Historic Alaior's got cheesemaking tours and visits to the local donkey rescue centre. Head to Mahon and you're greeted with a bustling harbour, grand monuments and urban shopping opportunities.
