Holidays to Skanes focus on the enormous white-sandy beach. But there are medinas, ancient amphitheatres and Saharan Jeep safaris within easy reach, too.
A tip-top beach

A 90-minute drive from Skanes gets to you El Jem, a must-see Roman amphitheatre with the UNESCO stamp of approval. Scale wise, it’s nearly as big as Rome’s Colosseum and comes with underground passageways and high terraces to climb. The museum here gives you all the deets on the place, along with a collection of mosaics.
