Experience Art Nouveau at its best, a UNESCO-certified Old Town and the largest market in Europe on a city break to Riga.

City breaks to Riga

The capital of Latvia, Riga, isn’t usually thought of as a hard-hitting European city break destination, but there’re many treasures waiting to be discovered and many adventures to be had in this storybook city. Riga is famous for its architecture, mainly Art Nouveau style, which is best seen on a stroll through Riga’s Old Town – a UNESCO World Heritage site. Here, you’ll also admire Riga Cathedral - the largest medieval church in the Baltics and head to the observation platform at St Peter's Church to fill up your camera roll with the city skyline. There’s also plenty to enjoy beyond the cobbled streets and historic sights – Riga’s Creative Quarters can be found behind the Central Market. Converted warehouses are now home to art galleries and concert halls, as well as a main square which hosts flea markets and open-air movie screenings.
