Pretty as a picture

Oia's a sun-bleached little village perched on the northern tip of Santorini – Greece's postcard-famous Cycladic island. You're sure to recognise its iconic blue-domed roofs and whitewashed buildings. Potter around the cobbled alleys to find fine-dining spots, quaint bookstores and a walking path made from marble.

Magical sunsets

Scores of tourists and locals alike elbow their way to this famous clifftop village to get a good look at the sunset. The spectacle's so moving, people actually clap and cheer when it finally goes down. The village stretches out along the coast, so there's plenty of space to find a quieter viewing spot away from the crowds.

After dark

Oia's a small place, but there are heaps of boutique shops and jewellers for those wanting a sparkly momento. If you fancy something livelier, you're a 30-minute drive from the island capital, Thira. Most tourists head here once the sun goes down to indulge in its variety of cocktail bars and dancing dens.
