Best time to go to Nashville

The best times to visit Nashville, weather-wise, are from April to May and September to October. During these periods, the weather is perfect for exploring, without the sizzling heat of the summer months. If you’re working to a budget consider visiting between the months of November and March – the temperature hovers around the teens, but there’s less crowds resulting in cheaper hotels and flights.

For a beachy vibe just a quick 15-minute trip east of the city, head over to Percy Priest Lake. This 42-mile-long reservoir is as close as Nashville gets to a beach resort. Think sandy spots to stretch out on, plus tonnes of activities. Water babies can swim or jet-ski on the lake, and there’s horseback riding and hiking, too. For even more fun, hit up the nearby Nashville Shores Lakeside Resort where you can soak up the sun and make waves at the waterpark.

If you’ve come to Nashville, a trip to Broadway is a must. It’s basically ‘country Vegas’ – swap your high heels for cowboy boots, and you’re set to hit the strip for a Southern night out you won’t forget. Bright neon lights illuminate the streets and the endless bars – known as honky-tonks – are popping with live music all day and night. Why not swing by the rooftop parties or cruise through Downtown on one of the pedal taverns – a bar on wheels with country music blasting out. Hitting Broadway is a vibe like no other, so let loose and line dance your way into the night.

A laidback evening is all about soaking in the Southern charm at a local bar or brewery with a cute cocktail or ice-cold beer. Chill out to live acoustic tunes or take a stroll along the Cumberland River. And, if you want to add a little pink to your night then look no further than White Limozeen – a Dolly Parton themed rooftop bar. This dreamy pink paradise is incredible – imagine bright pink walls, glittery chandeliers, velvet furniture and fluffy cushions. Outside on the patio, the Dolly vibes keep going with pink umbrellas and lounge chairs, plus you’ll find the iconic Dolly Parton statue.

Move over Kentucky, Nashville hot chicken is the main event here. This isn’t just any fried chicken – it’s crispy, juicy and completely unapologetic about its heat. Imagine perfectly fried golden chicken drenched in cayenne chilli to give it that iconic, fiery kick. It’s bold in flavour, big in popularity and it’s worth every spicy bite. And, for the best foodie spots check out Hattie B’s or Prince’s for hot chicken that’s 10 out of 10.

This dish is exactly what it sounds like – meat and three sides – but the fun’s in how you mix and match to build your dream plate. The meat picks are next-level – meatloaf, fried chicken, pork, steak and even fish are all on the menu. And the side dishes are just as irresistible. Load up on mac and cheese, creamy mashed potato, cornbread, black-eyed peas and collard greens. It’s hearty, flavourful and hands down the ultimate Southern comfort food.

If you’re craving a sip of pure Southern bliss, Nashville sweet tea’s got you covered. It’s like a dessert in a glass – sweet, refreshing and ideal on those hot Nashville days. Served tall and over ice, you’ll find it everywhere from BBQ joints to fancy restaurants.
