There are plenty of options for daytrips around. After a 10-minute drive to Pesada, you can jump on a ferry to Zante's white cliffs and turquoise sea caves. For some retail therapy, a 15-minute drive will get you to Argostoli – Kefalonia's capital – where you'll find an array of shops, bars and restaurants.

The lush surroundings and sandy shores of nearby Agios Thomas Beach make it a picture-perfect spot for sunbathing – and the scenery along the 25-minute walk from Karavados make it all the better. Crystal-clear waters are just right for snorkelling and spying on sea life, and the little taverna can sort you out with beachside beers.
