Holidays to Kalathos line up ancient monuments and watersports adventures alongside lazy days spent watching the waves.

Little houses on the hill

The small Greek village of Kalathos on the east coast of Rhodes is as pretty as a picture. Whitewashed houses, bars and tavernas cling to the hillside, all a breezy 15-minute walk from the coast. With its central location, it also makes a good starting point for exploring the island.

Sunshine and salty air

For exciting watersports, there's a Blue Flag award-winning beach at Lardos – just a 10-minute drive away. This sandy stretch deserves its place on the star chart for its yellow shoreline and sparkling blue sea. Activities on offer include jet-skiing and, for the bravest of the bunch, paragliding.

Legendary view

The must-see ancient village of Lindos is less than a 10-minute drive to the south. Trek up to the mighty clifftop ruins of the acropolis, which stand alongside the well-reserved pillars of Athena's Temple. If you're not a history buff, fear not, the ocean views are ample reward for the walk.

Wonder of the world

Culture vultures will relish a daytrip to Rhodes Town, once home to a Seventh Wonder of the Ancient World. As Europe’s oldest inhabited Medieval town, it earns its UNESCO World Heritage title. The capital's cobbled streets wind around an endless assortment of historical sites, including the famous Street of the Knights.
