Famous hotspot
Fiskardo's a glitzy gem of a town on the northern tip of Kefalonia, one of Greece's Ionian Islands. The attractive Venetian buildings feature balconies spilling with bougainvillaea, and the pretty harbour's a perfect spot for life after dark. Keep your eyes peeled, as you may find you're rubbing shoulders with celebs when out and about.
Traditional cuisine
When you're ready for a bite to eat, there's a gang of restaurants on the Fiskardo waterfront to satisfy your cravings. Dine on grilled meat skewers, fresh fish or traditional beef stew, all washed down with ouzo – the local aniseed-flavoured drink. Family-run eateries are the best shout for home recipes like kleftiko – slow-roasted spiced lamb on a bed of potatoes.
Snorkel o'clock
You'll find a little strip of sand near the harbour, but for more space, stroll 20 minutes towards Foki Beach. Along this pebbled bay, the water's peaceful and as transparent as can be. Nearby Emblisi Beach is a great location for diving – and you might catch glimpses of the sea life as you explore the reef.
