Kid-friendly Algarve
The Algarve offers a real medley of towns, dishing up big beach resorts, classy harbours and bags of fishing villages. And wherever you go, you’ll find a hotel made for families. Waterparks aren’t exactly in short supply, either, so you’re never far from kamikaze slides, lazy rivers and Black Holes. Little kids get Atlantic Park, which serves up pint-sized rides and pools.
Madeira Theme Park
The island of Madeira is a great spot for families. Drive 30 minutes from the capital of Funchal and you’ll land in Madeira Theme Park. It’s like a bite-sized look at the island capital — you’ve got traditional Santana houses, mini botanical gardens and a working water mill. Adrenalin junkies don’t miss out, either — there’s an extreme sports zone and rides, too.
Porto Santo Island
Apparently footballer Cristiano Ronaldo spends the odd weekend on Porto Santo Island, which is a good enough reference for us. It’s a top spot for families who prefer to get away from it all. Step away from the luxury hotels of Vila Baleira, and you’ll be tripping over footstep-free beaches.
If you’re travelling with tots in tow, why not consider a family holiday to Portugal?
