The room on the second floor at the rear above the kitchen, had an unpleasant odour. We asked if we could change rooms. They provided a room on the 5th floor. The rooms are dated but functional. The shower screen felt like it was going to fall off every time you moved it. The food in the restaurant is ok but nothing special. I had an incredibly disappointing stay at this hotel. The treatment I received was absolutely shocking. The keys to my room broke, and when I approached the hotel staff, their attitude was rude and unhelpful. To make matters worse, they charged me 100 euros for the broken keys because I broke it and he also said it is the first time that happened on this hotel !!!. I had a three night stay in Nov 2024. It was a small single room but had everything I needed. Super clean. Its in the center of town. Lots of restaurants and attractions all in walking distance. Vienna in that area is very flat, so walking even for an older guy was easy. Its about 200 meters from the subway, that will get you everywhere. I cannot think of a better location for a hotel in Vienna for a tourist. Taxis can drop you at the door, right where the pedestrian streets start. In the heart of the old city, walking distance to a myriad of good restaurants, stores and tourist attractions. The historical building is dated? Not so much.
