I have deliberately left it a few weeks before writing this review to ensure that I had given myself time to reflect on our stay.
For the record my wife and I stayed from the 19th September until 23rd September 2024 in the Royal San Marco Hotel, Venice in a junior suite booked via Expedia. This is classed as 4 star on Expedia , Booking.com and their own website.

Basic amenities like hot water kettle, coffee or tea sachet, cups not provided. Cheap poor quality plastic glasses provided.
No service given when bathroom sink blocker was jammed in by the room cleaning staff.
Extremely impolite and reluctant attitude of front desk to help when needed.
The rooms were very dimly lit, the switches for lights were very confusing and the electrical points so very necessary for chargi...

Warm and authentic Venetian feel

This was our second stay at Hotel Royal San Marco and will go back again. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The hotel has a warm and authentic Venetian feel about it and its close proximity to Piazza San Marco made it feel even more authentic....

Venetian elegance throughout! We had a very enjoyable stay, with 3 family members in 2 rooms. The bed in one room was much more comfortable than the other, sadly, which is why I gave 4 stars instead of 5. The continental breakfast included everything you could hope for except good coffee. It seems like all the hotels in Italy use those machines that produce substandard coffee with powdered milk and low quality bean...

Great central location off St Marks Sq. we had a suite for us and our two daughters. It was more than comfortable complete with kitchenette. The hotel has its period charm and the room was well appointed. Reception staff were helpful with information about getting around and back to the airport. Breakfast buffet had all youd expect and did set us up for a day of travelling home....
