Don't bother with Hotel Verona

I used Trip Advisor to select a simple single room hotel in Rome. In the search filters, I specifically selected Free Wifi, Breakfast Included and 4 stars or more. Hotel Verona came up as an obvious good choice and I selected it. I was re-directed to Bookings.com for reservations and I reserved the hotel, assuming the choices in the filter would be applied. Very good , modern and clean hotel, 5-10 min. walking distance from Termini, but in a very safe and quiet and descent street. Our room had a very nice balcony.
In walking distance to many historical site , and near metro station.
Lots of good restaurants nearby.
Fair breakfast. Reasonably priced. Mixed of stairs and lift to access the floors.
Good communication and very nice and accommodating staff....

Rooms are very basic, no hangers in the wardrobes, need updating and thorough cleaning. Had breakfast once during our stay and found very limited choice.
No electricity on Wednesday, when we asked at reception was told it was a planned outage between 9 am and 6 pm. Asked what could be done as the bathroom was pitch black so made it dangerous and unusable. Told by the receptionist not our problem. Not at all helpful ...

When I arrived, the reception was polite and helpful, answered a few questions was fine. We went to the room ,which was a little dissapointing but nobody's fault,slightly dated and basic but again I didn't mind. Spent a day in the hotel, realised the tv didn't work, the hairdryer blew up, and struggled to sleep with noise of the air con. On last day the power went out in the hotel. Stayed for a few nights during our stay in Rome. Hotel was only a short walk from Rome Termini railway station which was great.
We were warmly greeted by the gentlemen working on the front desk. Easy check in and he was very informative and provided lots of information on check in.
