Older hotel with small uncomfortable rooms

Hotel Gambrinus is an older hotel in a good central location in Rome. That makes it easy to get to the Trevi Fountain and other sights in the center of Rome! My son and I stayed there in December 2024. Downsides include extremely small and uncomfortable rooms! The beds were uncomfortable and the AC didnt function well and we figured out how to prop open the windows. Really small bathroom that worked for showers. Bre...

The rooms were very small with little room for suitcases etc. Room was clean and had a good sized bathroom. Good location for exploring Rome. Breakfast supervisor was sargent major who made sure all his rules were followed. Breakfast was good with a wide variety of food offerings...

All hotel staff were pleasant and helpful. We liked the location and could easily walk into the city center. Front desk staff were professional and sweet. We especially enjoyed the breakfast service staff: Ruel, Paola and Fabrizia. Such a nice way to start our day in Rome, to come down to a nice breakfast and friendly people. Ruel even remembered what coffee we had the day before, great service...

The hotel is well situated to cover off most of the attractions in Rome inc the Gardens,Rome rail terminal,St Peters square (via metro) as well as the Trevi fountain and Spanish steps.

We stayed here for the first 3 nights of our trip to Italy, and loved it. The hotel has so much character. The bed was large and comfortable, everything was clean, the bathroom looked like it had been recently renovated and was bright and clean, albeit small. Wifi worked perfectly as well, which is important these days.
