Staying at Hotel Axel was one of the best decisions we made. The hotel is super nice, the service is special and very personalized, there was very good communication with the staff from the moment we made the reservation. The hotel is located in the heart of Madrid in an excellent location on Atocha Street. The hotel staff are very friendly; however, so many problems during my stay. First, they had cancelled my reservation without contacting me and luckily (or not) found me another room which had to be the worst in the hotel. For 300 euros a night, you would expected bigger (and cleaner).

The hotel was fine but just average. We have been to other Axel Hotels and this one did not live up to the others. Definitely not as "gay" as some of the other locations. Location was good .. about a 15 - 20 minute walk to most cultural sights and gay bars. The room was nicely decorated, however the sink area lacks any storage space for toiletries/personal items. Absolutely fantastic. Comfy, modern room, fabulous staff & breakfast. Room was immaculate & cleaned every day. Toiletries provided & soft fluffy towels. Received welcome drink at the rooftop bar. The hotel is situated perfectly for exploring Madrid. Would definitely stay again....
