Difficulties understanding the term "reservation".

On arrival at the Eurostar terminal in Brussels, my wife had her case stolen. No police in sight. No wonder the crime is high. Arrived at the hotel and the reception took all the money immediately and then allocated us a room inferior to the room we booked and that I'd just paid for. When I complained, he offered us what looked like a former coal storage room or luggage room in the basement....

Our room was on the top floor so had not one, but two delightful balconies from which we could overlook the whole of Brussels. Nice sized room with comfy bed. Friendly staff.
Only complaint would be the bathroom poor shower pressure / temperature gauge and no heating in the bathroom so was very cold.

I was tempted to cancel our reservation after reading some of the recent reviews but I'm pleased I didn't. I'm sorry for those who had a bad experience however our own experience was very positive, with the only downsides being a lack of choice on the television in the room & there only being one small lift. The hotel was a complete letdown. My room had no air conditioning, and despite my complaints, nothing was done. The red rug was covered in black stainsand lets just say, there were other stains Id rather not describe.
