Wonderful hotel and the staff were very friendly

We stayed here for my mother in laws 80th birthday. We chose this hotel because we share its name and thought it would be nice to go to Brussels and Bruges.
It is a stunning hotel, very clean and ornate.
The reception staff were very warm and friendly. They were very helpful and supported my husband with first aid due to a wrist injury. They did go the extra mile to help us.

The hotel is supposed to be classic/antique, but its simply just old and dusty. Dust everywhere including on the electric kettle and lamp shades in the room. Nothing felt fresh with terms of the upstairs design and furniture. And the room was unbearably hot with no resolution. The redeeming qualities are breakfast (lots of options and tasty overall....

I regret to inform you that my recent stay at your establishment did not meet my expectations. I found the overall experience quite disappointing and, unfortunately, I cannot recommend your hotel.

Interesting accommodation... Very generously proportioned room, soundproof, and excellent curtains, so dark at night. However the furniture was very tired and so stained it was a wee bit off-putting. I'm sorry to say the breakfast was really quite terrible.
I did sleep very well, the bed was comfortable and the location was perfect for visiting the university (15 minute walk)....
