The hotel is in a great location and despite the reviews complaining about size, it gives it quintessential Amsterdam charm. Our room itself wasn't at all cramped, we received complimentary beverages on our first night there and the hotel is decorated in a tasteful manner. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and most of the places we wanted to visit were right on our doorstep.

Horrible experience in Max Brown Hotel

This was the worst experience.
I was blinded by the good location of the hotel but was horrified by the very dirty and tiny room. I had a child mattress as an adult guest! Room 313! It was horrible and staff could not accomodate in any way. I had to leave and book another room since I did not feel safe to stay in such terrible place....

Perfectly located to enjoy a visit to the city. We caught the bus 397 direct from the airport which stops a few meters away from the hotel. We managed to check-in early and therefore made the best of our first day. The guy on reception provided us with a lot of useful information regarding our location and the places to visit. Great hotel conveniently located in a lovely street near to the Museum square. Very helpful staff, fabulous retro decor, and extremely comfy beds. Room had a couple of minor issues that were readily fixed by the friendly staff. Would recommend....

Yes, the rooms can be small and a bit worn but the hotel has great character and has everything we needed including a nice rooftop view. Concierge services were excellent and the breakfast, which does cost a bit extra, was very nice. We did upgrade to a triple and were able to check-in around 10:00a. The bed and pillows were very comfy!...
