A peaceful pit-stop in Amsterdam

It was a tri-continent flight. from Cape Town, South Africa to the plane change at Schipol. My wife and I decided to turn Amsterdam into a 48-hour pit stop. But we were fussy. The hotel had to be peaceful, no guides herding tourists in the lobby nor suits blaring in their cellphones. We wanted a Dutch homey atmosphere. And wanted to visit our favorites Rembrandt, Vermeer and Van Gogh.

Great hotel in a wonderful location. About one block from the Museumplein station where you can pick up the airport bus 397 and the Tram to the city center. Beds were super comfortable, and we loved the open bar and evening snacks. Staff were super helpful, and the hotel is just the right size..not too big, not too small. We stayed for 4 nights and highly recommend....

Jan Luyken Amsterdam is a marvelous hotel. I visited in November 2024. All the hotel staff are professional, friendly and responsive, the room is cozy, comfortable and clean, the breakfast is delicious with lots of options, and the location in the museum district is very convenient. I highly recommend this hotel....

This hotel did not disappoint. It's always difficult to tell if a place will live up to your expectations when booking online but I have to say, it met my expectations and then some. The lobby is gorgeous as is the breakfast room, the library, and the outdoor patio (too cold to enjoy when we were there but I can imagine how nice it would be in summer).

Lovely hotel, great location and fantastic staff. We only stayed for one night but we plan on returning in the near future. Felt more like a friends house than a hotel. You can help yourself to food and drinks whenever you feel like it (complimentary as well)...
