Big beach resorts
If you like your hotels loud and proud, head for Montego Bay. It’s also known for its non-stop nights, with a lively strip that ticks off reggae bars and clubs. Negril is also well-known, although it’s finished off with a chilled-out vibe. It’ll come as no surprise that this is where Bob Dylan hung out in the Sixties.
Quiet towns
All Inclusive hotels in Trelawny, Lucea and Runaway Bay run with the same theme. They’re grand, they’ve got private beaches and they specialise in delivering plenty of R&R. The Royalton White Sands is A top example — it’s got a Martini bar and swim-up suites for adults.
A choice of daytrips
Biking the Blue Mountains, coral reef snorkelling tours, catamaran cruises, Bob Marley pilgrimages — Jamaica serves up them all. But it’s Dunn’s River Falls that gets top spot. The cascades here plunge down a 600-foot drop.
