The village secret

Alaminos is home to beach that’s a bit of a local secret – it’s tucked away out of sight, and if you didn’t know it was there, you might just miss it. It’s called Secret Paradise Beach, and it doesn’t take a genius to see how it got its name. It’s a shallow swimming spot which is hugged by a huge cliff at one end and a small marina at the other. It’s joined forces with a restaurant and bar too, so you’ve got all your need for a day at the village’s out-of-sight sweep of sand.

Lush landscapes

Alaminos has been painted green by the farmland and countryside that surrounds it – this place is the growing spot for the likes of tomatoes, gherkins and artichokes. And, elsewhere, acacia and pine trees sprinkle the town with colour. A trip through the heart of the village will take you past traditional houses which come paired up with lush green courtyards, too.

Days trips to Larnaca

Days out to one of Cyprus’ most-trodden cities are easy – it’s a 30-minute drive from Alaminos. A 9th-century church makes its home here – The Church of Saint Lazarus is made entirely of stone. Plus, you’ve got one of the big-name beaches on the island here, too. Finikoudes Beach is Larnaca’s cover-star – it’s bagged Blue Flag status and is paired up with a palm-lined promenade, too.
