Blessed with quiet beaches, fresh seafood, mountains to climb and buckets of wine, holidays to Orebic come pretty close to perfection.
Secret beauty
On the edge of Croatia's Peljesac Peninsula in southern Dalmatia, Orebic is a true hidden gem. Built at the foot of St Elias Mountain, the vista's dramatic and the shoreline's one long sweep of sand and pebbles.
Beach beyond the pines
Settle down for the day in a deckchair on Trstenica Beach, just 15 minutes' walk from Orebic harbour. Fringed by majestic pine trees, its popularity is understandable – shallow water makes it especially kid-friendly, and the sand's mixed with smooth pebbles.
Stairway to heaven
The Monastery of Our Lady of Andela's got a pretty sweet spot atop its rugged cliff. Built in the late 16th century in Gothic-Renaissance style, it sits 152 metres above sea level. Your climb will get you an unspoiled view of the glittering sea, with Korcula Island in the distance.
Time to wine down
You can't visit Orebic without sampling the region's celebrated wines. Round off a tour of local Korta Katarina Winery with a tasting session. Paired with regional breads, cheeses and meats, a glass – or bottle – of the stuff's the perfect way to wind down.Best time to go to Orebic
