Surf and golf
Head five minutes by car to Oura Beach and try an outdoor flowboarding pool, which simulates surfing. Or for something totally different, there's a nine-hole golf course perched high on Balaia's cliffs which have panoramic views of the green-and-turquoise landscape.
Delightful daytrips
Drive 10 minutes to Alvor or Olhos de Agua and treat yourself to a creamy custard tart from a local bakery. Balaia is an ideal base for Algarve resort-hopping too, and there's a number of lively beach towns to discover on the 20-minute drive to Albufeira.
Beachside Balaia
Despite its small size, Balaia has two shorelines to itself. Both are Blue Flag award-winning beaches, so you can expect pristine sand and safe swimming. If you want in on the action, grab a spot on the main beach. Or, for a relaxing picnic, head to neighbouring Oura Beach.
