Where to stay in Punta Cana

Blaze a trail to where the Caribbean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean and you’ll find yourself slap-bang in the middle of Bavaro. It’s one of the resorts in luxurious Punta Cana, perched right at the end of the nicely named Coconut Coast – so you know you can expect something super tropical. Just a heads up – the beaches here are sometimes affected by sargassum, a type of seaweed. It’s influenced by things like weather patterns and the currents in the sea. If your hotel’s affected, the staff will do everything they can to clear it.

Best beach in Bavaro

You’ll probably find yourself teetering between the talc-soft beach and the clear waters of the ocean. Bavaro’s main 10-kilometre long stretch of sand’s peppered with fringed parasols and towering palm trees. There are lots of little shacks to grab a coconut water, so you don’t get thirsty. And watersports are popular here, especially snorkelling – it's a great way to explore the colourful coral reef.

Golf on the Punta Cana coast

Punta Cana’s famous for its hotels and luxury resorts. Stay in Bavaro and you’ll find that there’s loads in the area to get involved in – be it a night out, a round of golf or a spot of retail therapy. Golf resorts dot the inland area, while the nearby Palma Real Shopping Village is perfect for picking up locally made arts and crafts.
