Natural scenery, rolling vineyards and a history-crammed capital – holidays to Luxembourg offer the whole shebang.
Scenery and sightseeing
Landlocked Luxembourg is often overlooked – it’s one of Europe’s littlest countries, squeezed between Belgium, France and Germany. While it may be diddy in size, it more than makes up for it with oodles of things to see and do. History buffs can eye up medieval ruins in the capital, and sporty types can hike, cycle and canoe their way around three massive nature reserves.
A pint-sized capital
Most visitors to the country make a beeline straight for Luxembourg City. The teeny capital’s old quarter has fairytale written all over it – think cobbled lanes, medieval gates and pastel painted townhouses. So, it’s no wonder it’s been given UNESCO’s stamp of approval. As for grub, you’ll be able to sample the crème de la crème here – the city’s got a list of Michelin-starred restaurants that’s as long as your arm.
Outdoor pursuits
This pocket-sized country’s got more hiking trails than you can shake a walking pole at. If cycling’s more up your street, you can put foot to pedal along pea-green countryside routes. If you really want to get the adrenaline pumping, hightail it over to the fast-flowing rivers of the northern region – they’re popular with kayakers. And, when it’s time to unwind with a glass of chardonnay, the vineyard-carpeted southern region’s ready and waiting.Top Destinations
