Hello summer, is that you? The UK might just be catching up with the concept this year, but June’s class of Just Landed know the score. This month, we’re bringing you a brand-new batch of even more hotels in your fave destinations. Like a bit of Portugal, Greece, Spain, Turkey and Italy? Maybe Croatia, Bulgaria or Cyprus? Perfect – you’re going to love these extra picks.
We’ve shortlisted a few new arrivals to level up your stay somewhere that keeps you coming back…
When you fancy an escape from your kids and everyone else’s…
The place you’re looking for is Girandella Valamar Collection Resort Adults along the Istrian Riviera in Croatia. A stay here puts you right on Girandella Beach and purely in the company of other adults. It’s a hotel completely about you – take a bit of me-time in the spa, get those endorphins flowing with a game on the tennis courts or float around in the swimming pool, complete with sea view. You’ve got your pick of loungers by the sand or by the bar and, with no kids running about, both are equally peaceful.
When you’re pretty sure you can cook better than a hotel restaurant…
Meet Almyra Apartments near Rethymnon, Crete. If you fancy yourself as a bit of a chef and pack a mean beach picnic, self-catering stays sound like a bit of you. These places come complete with a little kitchenette, dining table and balcony – think of the morning coffee scenes in the sun out there. You can even use the fresh and organic vegetables from the gardens! Plus, the local shops, bakeries and tavernas are super close by. You’re also right on the beach – which is a familiar fave with the local turtles, Caretta-Caretta – and Rethymnon is packed with ancient history and sites to explore. What more could you want?
When the beach is your number-one priority…
It’s pretty obvious, right? Stay on the beach. You can’t get much closer to the sand than when you stay at Aeolos Beach. You can dine right by the water, catch sunset, play volleyball – and there are sunloungers on the grass if you fancy a sea swim without taking half the beach home with you. The activity options just keep coming, from tennis and mini golf to basketball and bike hire. Why not pedal along the coast to explore the area? Seek out the local tavernas and pubs, then further north there are plenty of olive groves and flower fields. Or, Kos is your closest town for a little daytrip.
When you don’t want to leave the pool to order from the bar…
You haven’t lived until you’ve collected your cocktail from a swim-up bar and Malia Mare Hotel is the place to try it. It’s a short walk from the Old Town of Malia on Crete and has a real traditional feel to it. Stone walls, dark wood and light colours make it authentically Greek and as you wander into town, it’s all whitewashed houses and tiny churches. The pool is huge and surrounded by palm trees, so picture it now – sun yourself on a lounger, take a refreshing dip, then perch on an in-water bar stool to pick your drink of the day.
When you prefer your swimming spots a bit more private…
Sahra Su Holiday Village & Spa can sort you out. The rooms at this hotel in Turkey are either part of modern blocks or you can pick a thatched-roof bungalow for extra privacy, plus swim-up access. Of course, there’s the main pool and a children’s swimming area too, but this option bags you a section all to yourself and a few sunloungers. Take a trip to the traditional Turkish hammam, book in for a massage or hit the gym. You’re surrounded by pine-covered hills and have a great view of Babadag Mountain, so a daybed with a view needs to be acquired at some point. The village of Ovacik is also a kilometre away but the other Turquoise Coast resorts of Hisaronu, with its popular nightlife, and Olu Deniz aren’t too much further either.
