Psakoudia holidays serve up a slice of Halkidiki's quiet side. It tots up a Blue Flag beach, and the surrounding countryside's stuffed with scenic walking trails.
Coastlines to drool over
Everything in Psakoudia’s geared around its coastline, which packs in a two-and-a-half-mile-long sandy beach and more food joints than you can shake a fork at. The latter ticks off everything from pretty pizzerias to vine-wrapped tavernas that dish up local Greek fare. When the sun goes to sleep, this foodie’s paradise is the perfect place for a laidback walk, too.
Silver-screen-worthy scenery
Tear yourself away from the coast for a day and you’ll see that there’s more to Psakoudia than its waterfront. The countryside around the village is brimming with scenic walking trails. And, if you fancy something more robust, some of Halkidiki’s hefty mountains are under an hour’s drive away. Trundle over to the village of Taxiarchis – a 40-minute drive away – and you can mosey around a pine forest, too.
Cross off Polygyros
If it’s Halkidiki’s history you’re hankering for, head to the village of Polygyros. It’s the capital of the peninsula, and packs in a bunch of museums and age-old churches. They’re stitched together by cute cobbled streets, pin-drop-peaceful public parks and souvenir shops that sell bottles of olive oil, aniseed-flavoured ouzo, and sapphire-blue talismans that are said to ward off evil curses.Best time to go to Psakoudia
